As a single mom of three adult children, who I raised through an extremely difficult divorce, I completely understand the challenges which kids face, what sets them off, specific triggers, how to identify an explosion before it begins, and how to provide the security and support they need, whether they're toddlers or teens.
I earned my M. Ed. in specialized education and taught neurodiverse children with multiple disabilities for fifteen years, enabling me to understand behavioral cause and effect through the perspective (the eyes) of a child, which is critical for change.
Additional certifications include Early Childhood Developmental Specialist, a Certified Behavioral Health Practitioner, a Certified Triple P Parenting Trainer, a Certified Parenting Coordinator and aTrauma Informed Practitioner.
My book, Parenting with a Purpose, serves as a handbook endorsed by behavioral health clinicians, pediatricians. psychiatrists, teachers and parents, featuring chapters on child development, avoiding tantrums, identifying triggers, implementing logically linked consequences versus punishment, sensory challenges, how to speak so your child will listen, and so much more. I invite you to view the professional testimonials under the My Book tab.
My prior publication, Building Blocks, published by the New England Journal of Medicine, is a daily calendar of developmentally stimulating activities for babies during their first year.
I've authored a weekly syndicated newspaper column for eleven years, Family Matters, offering support to parents across the country. Additionally, I contributed a monthly column for the inspirational magazine, Life's Journey, along with such columnists as Jack Canfield, Joel Osteen and many other recognized celebrity contributors who propose positivity as a way of life.
As an award winning, nationally recognized Behavioral Specialist I've been an invited guest on national television and radio programming. I have had the privilege of supporting thousands of parents for decades, referred by pediatric offices, behavioral health clinicians, schools, Children's Hospitals and countless families, both nationally and internationally, seeking positive solutions to completely replace negativity, yelling and the need for punishment.
What's your biggest challenge? I'm confident that I can deliver the supports you need to address the barriers which keep you and your child from everyday success. Find joy in your parenting journey.
All the best,
Diana
